Gargano by e-bike between sea and mountain
Self-guided – 6 days
A breathtaking tour in the Gargano peninsula, one of the most unknown and still uncontaminated areas of the little heel of Italy. The Apulian promontory overlooking the Adriatic Sea boasts a cultural and natural heritage waiting to be discovered. It’s about a tour with not very long stages, but with significant differences in height. For this reason, we decided to propose it by e-bike: such enchanting places, which are still not so beaten by cyclists, need to be enjoyed by everyone. With our pedal assist bikes anyone will be able to face each stage in total relaxation, constantly in contact with the nature, in a stunning sequence of sea and mountain. For who instead is trained enough and feels the desire to push on the pedals, he can contact us of course and choose our trekking bikes or our road bikes.

Itinerary
DAY 1: MONTE SANT'ANGELO
Arrival at Monte Sant’Angelo and check-in.
Welcome briefing and bike fit with a member of Puglia Cycle Tours crew.
DAY 2: MONTE SANT’ANGELO - MATTINATA
+/- 50 km
After leaving the UNESCO site of Monte Sant’Angelo, you will begin a wonderful descent to the sea, which you will reach at Siponto, known for its archaeological park. This contains the remains of a Paleochristian basilica as well as the innovative installation of a wire mesh by a young Lombard artist, Edoardo Tresoldi. However, the district of Manfredonia is also a famous seaside resort. Starting from here, you will ride close to the sea along the coast of the Gulf of Manfredonia, which takes the name from the homonym city in the south of the Gargano Promontory, also known as “Porta del Gargano” because of its location. Your destination is Mattinata, situated in the Gargano National Park.
DAY 3: MATTINATA – VIESTE
+/- 51 km
Your day begins from the historical centre of Mattinata, called “Junno” .
The rest of the day will be an amazing ride close to the sea. Through short pauses and little detours, you will discover the high cliffs, the pebbly beaches, the sea stacks and the caves, which characterize this coastal section of Gargano. At the end of the ride you will arrive in Vieste, the most oriental city of the Gargano Promontory. You will be fascinated by its historical centre perched on the crystal clear sea.
DAY 4: VIESTE - RODI GARGANICO
+/- 43 km
You will leave Vieste towards another magical ride on the coast, in the northern part of the Gargano promontory. A stop in Peschici is a must. It is a town rich in history, known for its “trabucchi” (trebuchets), which are wood structures suspended above the sea, once used for fishing, but recovered today as spectacular restaurants. When the sky is clear, you can glimpse from Vieste some Croatian islands and the mountain tops of Maiella. We hope you will be lucky! The last part of the day will be by bike along the sea and it will take you to Rodi Garganico, another coastal town of the Gargano National Park, known for citrus production since the Middle Ages. It will be another aroma which you will remember.
DAY 5: RODI GARGANICO- MATTINATA
+/- 45 km
At first, it may be hard to leave the beauty of the sea, but later the verdant stretches of land in the Gargano National Park will conquer you. This destination, which cuts the Gargano Promontory into two parts, is the deserving conclusion of a journey of discovery into the luxuriant and untouched nature and distinctive towns. After a few kilometers from the beginning of the bike ride, in fact, you will stop in Carpino. Carpino is part of the Mountain Community of Gargano and it is famous for the Carpino Folk Festival, an event dedicated to the Italian folk music. Finally, you will go through a section of the Park protected area close to the Umbra Forest, which extends for 120,000 hectares. Breathe in and fill your lungs before you return to Mattinata, the last part of your tour.
DAY 6: MATTINATA
